Announcing the 2014 Hearts Rebuilding Homes Campaign!

Give the gift of a warm and safe home!

Looking for a creative and meaningful Valentine's Day gift idea this year? Between February 1st and February 14th, we will be asking our supporters to give the gift of a warm and safe home to a homeowner in need by making a donation to our organization in honor of their loved ones through our 4th annual Hearts Rebuilding Homes Valentine's Day campaign!

Thanks to the generosity of our 2013 Hearts Rebuilding Homes donors, we were able to help four families in need. This year we hope to raise at least $5,000 to help four deserving homeowners on our waiting list (see their stories below). We are excited to celebrate the fourth year of our beloved Valentine's Day campaign, starting on Friday, February 1st. We hope you will consider joining us!

If you would like to support this fun campaign, you will have fourteen days to make a donation online (or by mail) to Rebuilding Together Seattle in honor of your Valentine. After receiving confirmation of your donation, we will mail a special card to your Valentine, notifying them of your donation. Later in the year, we will send an email greeting to all donors and card recipients to let them know about the families we were able to help with your support.

Please make your donation by February 11 to ensure that your Valentine gets their card in time!

Here are four families on our waiting list who need your support this Valentine's Day:

Ernesto and Perpetua live in Rainier Valley with their teenage son and adult daughter, who has developmental disabilities. Perpetua works part-time work as a nurse and Ernesto is wheelchair bound due to post-polio effects. The family needs a ramp built off their porch so Ernesto can safely exit his home, new grab bars installed and other accessibility improvements around the home.

Kitisha is the single mother of two and temporary guardian of her nephew, living in Renton. Her family needs new windows in the kids’ rooms, flooring throughout the home, exterior siding replaced, new back stairs, and plumbing work to allow the family to use both bathrooms again.

Leroy is a 74 year old Army veteran who lives alone in Wallingford. He has limited mobility and is on an oxygen tank due to his COPD. Leroy needs his ramp rebuilt, a couple windows repaired, his kitchen ceiling patched, and lots of clean-up and repair of his bedrooms which were damaged by harmful tenants.

Patricia and Bruce, both in their early 80s, have lived in their Lynwood home for nearly 30 years. Recently, Patricia and Bruce have been dealing with health issues that make it difficult for them to get around their home. They need a wheelchair ramp, grab bars in the bathroom and secure handrails down the stairs, as well as some weatherization repairs to keep them warm through the winter.

Please visit http://rtseattle.org/hearts_rebuilding_homes.php or email Paige Schultz at pschultz@rtseattle.org to learn more about Hearts Rebuilding Homes.

Give the gift of a warm and safe home to a homeowner in need this Valentine's Day!

On May 15th, Rebuilding Together Seattle will participate in the Seattle Foundation's annual event, GiveBIG.  We are looking for your support! Every donation on May 15th that is made through the RTS GiveBIG webpage will be matched by their "stretch pool" of matching funds.

If you are ready to give BIG on May 15th, then mark your calendars! Visit our donation page and click the "donate now" button to complete your donation.  Please note: If you pledged a donation on Spring Rebuilding Day and would like to complete your donation online, please consider making your donation through the GiveBIG website on May 15th to bring even more dollars into RTS!

The Seattle Foundation will also select 10 random donors throughout the day on May 15th to select as "Golden Ticket" recipients.  These lucky donors will win a $100 Starbucks gift card for themselves, plus $1,000 and a round-trip airline ticket with Alaska Airlines to be given in their name to the same nonprofit that received their donation!  To learn more about the "Golden Tickets", click here.

Product Runway is a smash hit for RTS!

This past Friday, Rebuilding Together Seattle attended the Interior Design Coalition of Washington's premier event, Product Runway! We had a great time meeting members of the interior design and architecture communities, while promoting RTS and our mission.

IDCW chose RTS as its featured charity for this event.  All proceeds from the People's Choice award voting last Friday went directly to RTS to support our programs. We were able to raise nearly $3,500 and would like to thank all of the generous guests at Product Runway for supporting our cause while enjoying a great show!  We are excited to partner with Product Runway at their next event!

Some of the Product Runway models
Product Runway winning design, LMN + Pental
Acrobats and belly dancers to start the show!
Caleb, RTS Director or Programs, with Emily Moses, IDCW President
This will be an event we will not want to miss the next time it comes around! Thank you again Product Runway and IDCW for your awesome support of Rebuilding Together Seattle.

NKBA Puget Sound select RTS as its featured charity for Great Kitchen and Bath Home Tour 2013!

The Puget Sound Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) has chosen RTS as its featured charity for their annual Great Kitchen and Bath Home Tour! All ticket proceeds ($20 each) will go directly to our programs. This is a very exciting opportunity for RTS to spread the word about our organization and reach a new audience of people!

If you are interested in supporting this event, the best way would be to attend the tour itself! Tickets can be purchased here. Please invite your friends, family and coworkers! It is a great way for them to support RTS while also scoping out new ideas for their next kitchen or bath makeover. There are 7 homes on the tour scattered around the area, with many on the Eastside. The homes will be open on both Saturday May 18th and Sunday May 19th from 10:00 am to 5:00 PM, to give attendees enough time to visit each site. Check out preview photos of the homes here or on their Facebook page!

We are very excited to be partnering with such a well recognized organization, the NKBA, and are thrilled to have been chosen as their benefiting organization. Thank you so much NKBA Puget Sound for your generous support of Rebuilding Together Seattle!

On Thursday, July 26, over 250 Rebuilding Together Seattle (RTS) supporters gathered blocks away from Safeco Field at the 2012 Mariners Tailgate Fundraiser!  With the support of the Herche Family and volunteers, attendees raised over $7,600 for low income homeowners in need of essential home repairs.
