Before & After Shots from Safeway Rebuilding Day

Tree removal, new mulch, and gravel

Shed demo, tree removal, weeding, ivy removal, and deck powerwash
Ramp clean-up

Yard Work: Parkview residents are in charge of maintaining their yards, however, all four residents are confined to wheelchairs making upkeep difficult. Safeway volunteers worked to make the yard as low maintenance as possible by removing overgrown bushes, adding mulch and gravel, demoing an old shed, scraping moss, powerwashing the deck and ramp, and mowing the lawn.

Kitchen Before & After
Kitchen: In the kitchen volunteers installed new countertops, a new hood range, a light fixture, and replaced the sink.  A new fridge will be delivered this week.

Bathroom flooring demo, stay tuned for photos of the new flooring!
Bathroom: The flooring in the roll-in bathroom was beginning to rot.  Volunteers worked all day to demo the 4 layers of flooring.  This week new waterproof tile flooring will be installed along with a new toilet.

A big thanks to all involved!

Safeway Rebuilding Day is this Saturday, April 6th!

Safeway Rebuilding Day 2012
In order to raise awareness for their Disability Awareness Month (April), Safeway is partnering up with RTS to repair a group home for residents with disabilities this coming Saturday, April 6th.

Over 30 volunteers will participate in rebuilding and cleaning this home for four adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in Shoreline. The home is owned by Parkview Services and operated by Provail. Most of the residents have lived at the home together for over 20 years and all of them, in addition to IDDs, are confined to wheelchairs.

Volunteers will be replacing the kitchen sink and refrigerator, updating the countertops, installing new light fixtures, building new shelving throughout the house, remodeling the bathroom flooring to accommodate wheelchair access, painting the interior walls, and completing much needed yard work.

Stay tuned for photos and live updates
on Facebook and the blog this Saturday!
