| Safeway Rebuilding Day 2012 |
In order to raise awareness for their
Disability Awareness Month (April),
Safeway is partnering up with RTS to repair a group home for residents with disabilities this coming Saturday, April 6th.
Over 30 volunteers will participate in rebuilding and cleaning this home for four adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in Shoreline. The home is owned by
Parkview Services and operated by
Provail. Most of the residents have lived at the home together for over 20 years and all of them, in addition to IDDs, are confined to wheelchairs.
Volunteers will be replacing the kitchen sink and refrigerator, updating the countertops, installing new light fixtures, building new shelving throughout the house, remodeling the bathroom flooring to accommodate wheelchair access, painting the interior walls, and completing much needed yard work.
