On Monday, Sept 20th, Pepsi and Rebuilding Together Seattle partnered to complete a project at Westside Baby- and what a successful project it was! Westside Baby is a nonprofit organization that collects previously owned items for children and babies and distributes them free of charge to families in need. Westside Baby served more than 15,000 families last year.
Pepsi volunteers optimized a new space for Westside Baby to increase distribution of children and baby items to families in need. The volunteers installed tiling, a washing machine and toilet, knocked out a wall to create a new entry, created an entirely new front façade, painted, and helped move and organize items in the new space.
This project is one of seven Rebuilding Together affiliate projects awarded fall 2010 grants from Pepsi Beverage Company (PBC). The amount of grants donated by PBC totals more than $100,000, which gives affiliates the means to help homeowners, community centers, and nonprofits free of charge, across the country this fall.
“The work being completed at Westside Baby will not only benefit the nonprofit that considers this building their place of work, but it will also increase their ability to serve the families in our neighborhoods,” said Margie Thirlby, RTS Executive Director. “Pepsi’s dedication to our community will allow our neighborhoods to continue on a path of positive growth and revitalization.”
“Pepsi Beverages Company is committed to serving homeowners and communities who are in need of our resources and volunteer-power,” said Catherine Patterson, senior manager, PBC Foundation & Community Engagement. “We are pleased to continue our work with Rebuilding Together to deliver tangible impact to communities nationwide and rebuild houses and centers into safer and warmer homes.”
