Sounders FC partners
with local charity to restore home for residents with developmental
disabilities
Seattle,
WA – On Wednesday, June 27, from 8 am to 4 pm, Rebuilding Together
Seattle will partner with 25 volunteers
from Wilcox
Construction and Seattle Bank to clean, rebuild and repair a home for people with developmental disabilities in Shorewood. In an
effort to help others live independently in warmth and safety, Rebuilding
Together Seattle focuses on providing low-income homes and non-profit
facilities with critical repairs, modifications and energy-efficient upgrades
at no cost to the individuals served.
The home that volunteers will be restoring is one of
three offered in the Seattle area by a nonprofit called United Friends Group
Homes (unitedfriendsgrouphomes.org). With 24 hour staffing at each home, United
Friends Group Homes provide assistance for residents with developmental
disabilities to enjoy quality lives and experience the best of home, health,
family, and community. On June 27, volunteers will complete several safety
fixes, address heating issues, make improvements to the staff room,
troubleshoot plumbing and electrical problems, paint several rooms, give the
common areas a deep clean, and complete yard work. The work will be made possible through the Sounders FC United We Serve program and Seattle
Bank, with the project management of Wilcox Construction.
