Volunteer of the Month: Jeff Kasowski

With so many excellent volunteers from Spring Rebuilding Day, it wasn't easy to choose the Volunteer of the Month for May! However, in the end, Jeff Kasowski from Wright Runstad has to take the award for going above and beyond at the home of SRD recipient, Margot Massey. In fact, Jeff is leading yet another project at Margot's house in the near future!

"Jeff demonstrates the epitome of an outstanding Project Leader for Rebuilding Together Seattle. Jeff is kind, hardworking, shows great attention to detail, and is a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, Jeff shows great compassion and patience in working with our clients and understands our mission and ‘the big picture’ as it relates to coordinating rebuilding days. Rebuilding Together Seattle is very lucky to have Jeff on Board." -Executive Director, Margie Thirlby

Now, let's hear from Jeff!

1. How did you get involved with RTS?

We received a call from Sarah (Director of Programs) wanting to see if Wright Runstad & Company wanted to participate.  Corliss, our office manager at HQ, called me to see if I was interested. Once I looked over the website, I realized that this type of volunteering was a good fit for the people in our company.

2. What do you enjoy most about working with our organization?

I love the fact that everyone in the office, as well as the board members, is truly interested in caring about people. I have a very special place in my heart for the elderly and those in need; therefore, when I am in the company of those who feel the same way, it is inspiring.

3. What do other volunteers say about RTS?

They say things like “This was fun!” “This was rewarding!” and “I really like working with a group that helps the community in this way.” They appreciate the opportunity to work with individual homeowners, and feel that RTS really does a good job finding those in the community who can benefit most from their help.

4. Why do they want to volunteer their time?

It is all about the one-on-one experience with the homeowner. They love to give of their time, especially enjoying the sense of satisfaction that comes when a task is completed, and a huge difference is made in the life of member of their community.

5. What about RTS' mission are you most drawn to?

Because of my love for home remodeling and repair, I like the fact that RTS sees the importance of home upkeep for those who are unable, for financial or physical reasons, to care for their own homes.
