This Saturday, September 15th, volunteers from the RTS Young Professionals Society (YPS) will be repairing a home in Leschi for a 70 year old woman, Ardis. Ardis lives alone and
has trouble walking due to issues with her joints. The repairs to the
home are sponsored by The
Swinerton Foundation and include: building a handrail for her front steps,
replacing the glass in the back door, a couple of small security and plumbing
fixes, clearing out some clutter, completing yard work, and some miscellaneous
painting and cleaning.
The RTS Young Professionals Society (YPS) is a
service organization of the nonprofit, Rebuilding Together Seattle (RTS), which
provides free home repairs to low income homeowners in the greater Seattle
area. RTS serves the elderly, disabled, families with children,
veterans, and nonprofit organizations in need of facility improvements.
YPS members support the mission of RTS by volunteering, networking, and
fundraising year-round. Membership is free! – members are
encouraged to get involved, spread the word, and asked to make a onetime donation (of any
amount) to Rebuilding Together Seattle during the fiscal year (July 1 – June
30) to help cover the costs of YPS events. To learn more about YPS,
please email YPS President, Michelle Holst, at: michelle.m.holst@gmail.com.
This past weekend, YPS had their first social of the year at Kangaroo & Kiwi where they reconnected with old friends and made some new ones!
