This month, the RTS Young Professionals Society (YPS) will complete their first exclusive Spring Rebuilding Day project! On April 27th, in celebration of Rebuilding Together Seattle's 23rd Annual Spring Rebuilding Day, over 1,000 volunteers will restore 28 homes and nonprofit facilities in one day. YPS will have their own house in Beacon Hill!
YPS members will be helping Antonia, an elderly and disabled homeowner who applied to Rebuilding Together Seattle earlier this year for help at her home. Antonia immigrated to Seattle from the Philippines in 1982, and purchased her current home in 1986. Antonia retired after working for a laundry company for 10 years, and is a mother to a son and daughter who live in Seattle. Her late husband served in the Army in Okinawa, Japan, during WWII.
In recent years, Antonia has had a difficult time keeping up with her home. Her deck has deteriorated and rotted to a point where it is too dangerous for her to spend time outside. In addition, Antonia is in need of two new windows, a new fence, exterior painting, and yard work.
In order to support Antonia with the repairs at her home, YPS needs to raise $1,000 by April 19th to cover the costs of the materials prior to the rebuilding day. Starting today, YPS is challenging our members and friends to make a donation toward the project! Donations will help cover the costs of the project materials, along with t-shirts, food, and other volunteer expenses for the day.
